Mepilex® Border is a versatile all-in-one bordered foam dressing available in a large range of shapes and sizes. You can use it for treating chronic and acute wounds. Plus it's clinically proven to help prevent pressure ulcers 1.

The proven five-layer construction includes Safetac®  the original less-pain contact layer with silicone adhesion. Safetac is designed to mould softly to skin without sticking to the moist wound 2  so you can remove it easily without damaging the skin 3. That means less pain for your patients 4.

The absorption layer instantly draws in moisture and exudate, protecting the periwound skin from maceration 5. Then the spreading layer distributes the exudate evenly across the full surface to improve the dressing's ability to work for longer. The retention layer soaks up the exudate and stores it, so the layers closer to the wound can continue absorbing more fluid. The backing film stops most bacteria and viruses from entering the wound 6 7  and it achieves a higher moisture vapour loss than other comparable dressings 8, which contributes to its impressive overall fluid handling capabilities.

When to use Mepilex Border

You can use Mepilex Border in the treatment of a wide range of exuding chronic and acute wounds; and secondary healing wounds. Our soft, conformable dressing maintains a moist wound environment – so you can trust it to effectively absorb and retain exudate.

You can choose from a large selection of wound dressing sizes  to suit from small to large wounds. We also have shaped dressings for wounds located on challenging areas of the body.

Mepilex Border can also be used as part of a prophylactic regimen to help prevent pressure ulcers 1. It's been demonstrated to act on the four extrinsic factors that can contribute to the development of pressure ulcers: to redistribute shear, redistribute pressure, reduce friction, and to maintain an optimal microclimate 12  13  14.
