Mepilex Up is a new and innovative foam dressing designed to minimise risk of leakage to improve clinical outcomes. The innovative dimpled foam of the dressing improves the capillary action allowing fluids to spread in all directions, even against gravity. These unique spreading properties enable superior exudate management and minimize the risk of maceration as well as can contribute to long wear time and fewer dressing changes. Mepilex Up has a thin and low profile which makes the dressing highly conformable and easy to use. Despite its slimness it can manage high volumes of fluids and manage both low and high viscous exudates. Mepilex Up can be used on a wide range of exuding wounds, in all wound healing stages.

  • Outstanding fluid spreading capabilities to counteract gravity and spread fluids in all directions, thus minimizing the risk of leakage1
  • Differentiated and improved foam structure to manage exudate corresponding to low to highly exuding wounds, with and without compression1
  • Thinner profile for greater conformability and ease of use1
  • Improved moisture vapor loss for higher breathability1
  • Improved fluid retention1
  • Print on backing film for easy recognition

More Info

Mepilex Up is intended for the management of a wide range of exuding wounds in all healing stages such as chronic wounds e.g. leg ulcers, foot ulcers and pressure ulcers, and traumatic wounds e.g. skin tears and secondary healing wound.

Mepilex Up can be used by lay persons under the supervision of health care professionals.

  1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with clinical practice.
  2. Dry the skin surrounding the wound thoroughly.
  3. Select an appropriate dressing size considering the following: For low exuding wounds, the dressing should cover the surrounding skin by at least 1 cm for small wounds and at least 3 cm for large wounds. For moderately to highly exuding wounds, regardless of wound size, the dressing should cover the surrounding skin by at least 5 cm. The dressing may be cut to suit various wound shapes and locations.
  4. Remove the first release film and apply the adherent side to the wound.
  5. Remove the remaining release film and smooth down the dressing on the skin. Do not stretch the dressing.
  6. When necessary, fixate the dressing with a bandage or other fixation.

The dressing change interval may be several days. Change the dressing before it is fully saturated, at signs of leakage, or as indicated by clinical practice. Mepilex Up can be used under compression bandaging and in combination with gels. Disposal should be handled according to local environmental procedures.
