Stericup® is a sterile, single-use 2.5 ml cooker. Its 5 different colours protect against accidental sharing.
Aims
- To promote personal and single use of sterile cookers in order to reduce the risks associated with the preparation of injections:
- Promotes aseptic preparation and reduces the risk of bacterial contamination (abscesses, endocarditis…)
- Encourages, by its colours, personal identification strategies and reduces the risk of viral transmission (HIV, hepatitis B and C) due to the reuse and sharing of cookers, filters and post-injection swabs.
Each Stericup® individual blister package contains:
- One sterile cooker:
- Maximum capacity of 2.5 ml, allows to heat solutions up to 1.5 ml easily
- Good stability ensured by a plain surface
- Alloy of aluminum, which safety has been proven
- Due to the material used and its relatively low thickness, the Stericup becomes flimsy after the first use, to prevent from reusing it.
- The overmoulded plastic handle:
- reduces manipulations before use, and therefore the risk of handborne bacterial contamination, potential source of infections,
- protects fingers from burns,
- ensures a greater stability.
- One sterile cotton filter:
- Due to its small size, this cotton filter retains less active drug than cigarette filters and makeshift filters alike.
- Its high density ensures an improved filtration efficacy
- Encourages single use of sterile filters
- One dry post-injection swab:
- To compress the vein after injection, for a better healing and to preserve the venous capital.
- Absorbs blood and reduces handborne viral transmission
